Planning

This project involves creating a film of a character opening a door, crossing a room and sitting down in a chair opposite another character, with whom he/she then exchanges a couple of lines of dialogue.
I will be using the resources provided to by the Victoria College Media Department and Library, and will be filming around the college grounds. Research shall be conducted using the computers of the media department and the final editing will be done using the apple macs.

Target Audience

The target audience for a media text is important in being decided before making the media text. My target audience will be students and teachers of the school as the final piece will not be published and shown to anyone else. The aim of the filming is to cover all the neccesary filming techniques and follow the codes and conventions of films. I shall be making my film funny in order to give it livelyness, rather the letting the audience suffer from bordom.

Techniques of filming

In this film project i am going to use three different techniques when filming and editing. They are:

The 180 degree rule in filming is also known as the Line of Action, the 180 Degree Rule is important and fundamental in communicating the action through careful camera positioning

Match on Action is a technique used in film editing. It is a cut that connects two different views of the same action at the same moment in a movement, by carefully matching the movement across the two shots. (Reaching for a door handle and opening it) filmmakers make it seem that the motion continues uninterrupted.

Shot reverse shot is a film technique wherein one character is shown looking at another character, and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.
